- This technology is useful for purifying air in areas lacking trees.
LIQUID TREE SALT: Air pollution has become a big problem in the country. Many people are falling ill due to air pollution, especially in big cities. Even its effect is visible on children also. Lung related diseases have also increased significantly due to air pollution. Keeping this in view, scientists have now prepared a technology with the help of which people will now be able to get more oxygen. Yes, actually, it is not possible to plant trees everywhere, that is why scientists have prepared a mobile liquid tree. Let us know what this technology is and how it works.
Country’s first liquid tree
According to media reports, scientists of CSIR-Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research (CSIR-CIMFR) have prepared India’s first mobile liquid tree. This new technology has been named Smart Algal Liquid Tree (SALT). Its purpose is to improve the air quality in big cities and more polluted areas.
How will it reduce pollution?
Let us tell you that the way SALT works is very similar to that of trees. Under this system, whenever polluted air comes in contact with this system, the carbon dioxide present in it is sucked by microalgae. After this, oxygen is released into the air through the photosynthesis process.
Not only this, another special thing about this system is that it depends only on sunlight. However, if needed, it can easily work on artificial light also.
How does this technology work?
Let us tell you that SALT i.e. Smart Algal Liquid Tree is a small and portable air purification system in which very small Microalgae are used along with water. This technology repeats the process of Photosynthesis inside a closed system.
The project has already been established at CSIR-CIMFR campus at Dhanbad, Jharkhand and Northern Coalfields Limited campus at Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh. Its biggest feature is its mobility, which means that it can be taken from one place to another very easily.
Can this technology replace real trees?
Yes, scientists say that the purpose of this technology is to use it in such places where planting trees is completely impossible. But it cannot be used in places where trees can be planted or are already present. It can only be used as a substitute and not a replacement for real trees.
