New Delhi: BCCI has implemented some new rules for IPL 2026, which is going to start from March 28. According to the latest guidelines, players have been asked not to wear 'sleeveless jersey' during the post-match award ceremony. If players come wearing sleeveless jerseys, they will be warned and fined a second time.

BCCI has sent guidelines to the IPL team management regarding the rules and precautions to be followed on the eve of the match and on the day of the match. The most important instruction among these is that the players will travel in the team bus only for the practice session. The family members of the players will have to come in a separate vehicle and can watch the practice from the hotel premises.

Players who have taken the most runs and wickets have been requested to compulsorily wear orange and purple colored caps, players who do not wear caps are requested to wear caps during the first two overs, until it is telecast on TV.

BCCI has issued the following guidelines for Net practice sessions:

  • Each team will get two nets in the practice area, as well as a side wicket on the main field for range hitting.
  • During practice at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, if both the teams are practicing at the same time, they will get two wickets each.
  • If one team finishes practice first, the other team cannot use that wicket for its practice.
  • Open net practice is not allowed.
  • Practice will not be allowed on match days.
  • There will be no fitness test on the main ground during match days.
  • If there is any change in the jersey number, it will have to be informed 24 hours in advance.

Complete schedule of IPL is going to be released soon
IPL has recently released the schedule of its first 20 matches to be played from March 28 to April 12. The complete schedule will be announced in the coming days after the dates of assembly elections in various states are confirmed. The season will begin this weekend when defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore will host Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
