NEET UG Result 2026: This time in the results of NEET UG 2026 exam, not only the toppers and cut offs are being discussed, but the performance of different categories has also presented a new picture. According to the data released by NTA, for the first time more than 60 percent of the candidates who appeared for the exam in both EWS and OBC categories were successful. A total of 11.21 lakh candidates have qualified the examination for admission to medical, dental, AYUSH and other undergraduate medical courses.
EWS and OBC recorded the best success rate
According to NTA data, this time the highest success rate was given to the candidates of EWS category. 61.8 percent candidates who appeared for the exam in this category qualified. After this, the performance of OBC category was also very strong, where 60.7 percent candidates were successful. This is the first time that more than 60 percent of the students who appeared for the examination in both these categories were successful in qualifying. Talking about other categories, the success in SC category was 52.4 percent, while in General category 51.2 percent and 59 percent candidates in ST category passed the exam.
How many candidates were successful from which category?
Among the total successful candidates, the highest number belonged to OBC category. 5.12 lakh candidates of this category qualified the exam. After this, 2.91 lakh candidates of general category, 1.59 lakh of SC category, 95,026 of EWS category and 63,716 candidates of ST category were successful. At the same time, 3,666 candidates of disabled PW BD category and 303 candidates of PWD category also passed the examination.
Women also recorded better performance
This time the performance of women in NEET was as good as that of men. More than 58 percent of the total successful candidates were women candidates. 56.8 percent of the women who appeared in the examination were successful, while the success rate of male candidates was 55.1 percent. This time, Aryan Gupta of Punjab and Panshul Bansal of Haryana registered the top scorer in the country by jointly scoring 715 marks.

Successful candidates from across the country
This time candidates from all 36 states and union territories qualified the exam. Uttar Pradesh was the state with the highest number of successful candidates, where more than 1.70 lakh candidates passed the examination. After this, Rajasthan and Maharashtra stood next, while 43 candidates from Lakshadweep achieved success.
Counseling will start now
After the release of the result, now the Medical Counseling Committee will organize counseling for 15 percent All India Quota MBBS and BDS seats. Whereas admission to state quota seats will be done by the counseling agency of the concerned state. NTA has also advised the candidates to get information only from the official website and to be cautious of fake calls, messages or websites coming in the name of admission.
