Mumbai cricket honors Ravi Shastri, now a stand in his name in Wankhede

Ravi Shastri Stand at Wankhede Stadium: Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) is going to give a special honor to its legendary cricketers at Wankhede Stadium this Thursday. ‘Ravi Shastri Stand’ will be grandly unveiled in this function. Not only Shastri, but other stars of Indian cricket will also get this honour. Different entrances of the stadium will be dedicated to the memory of great players like Dilip Sardesai, Eknath Solkar and Diana Edulji.

New Delhi. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) will unveil the new Ravi Shastri stand at the Wankhede Stadium and pay tribute to its great cricketers by dedicating the stadium gates in the names of Dilip Sardesai, Eknath Solkar and Diana Edulji. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will be the chief guest at this function. MCA President Ajinkya Naik will also be present, along with council members, officials and people from the cricket world.
The decision to honor these players was taken by the MCA council in its meeting in February. The level one stand below the press box at Wankhede Stadium will be named after former Indian captain and commentator Ravi Shastri. This honor is being given to him for his contribution to Mumbai and Indian cricket as a player, captain and coach.

Apart from this, gate numbers three, five and six will be named Dilip Sardesai Gate, Diana Edulji Gate and Eknath Solkar Gate respectively. Naik said, this ceremony is a proud moment for Mumbai Cricket as we are coming together to honor these great personalities on April 9. The unveiling of the Ravi Shastri Stand and dedicating gates in the names of Dilip Sardesai, Eknath Solkar and Diana Edulji shows our respect for the contributions of these great personalities.
MCA President Ajinkya Naik said, ‘This ceremony is a proud moment for Mumbai Cricket, as on April 9 we are coming together to honor these great personalities. The unveiling of the Ravi Shastri Stand as well as dedicating the stadium gates to Dilip Sardesai, Eknath Solkar and Diana Edulji reflects our deep respect for their invaluable contributions. He further said, ‘We look forward to celebrating his legacy at the Wankhede Stadium and also want to inspire the coming generations to maintain the same values and achieve greatness.’
