KKR vs LSG Match Report: On the basis of Mukul Chaudhary’s brilliant innings, Lucknow Super Giants defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 3 wickets. In this match played in Eden, Mukul became a one man army and snatched the victory from the jaws of Kolkata. This is Kolkata’s third defeat in four matches. New Delhi. Lucknow Super Giants pulled off the biggest upset of IPL 2026 at Eden Gardens, snatching victory from Kolkata Knight Riders. Mukul Choudhary emerged as the biggest hero of this seemingly impossible victory, who surprised everyone by playing a magical innings of 54 runs unbeaten in just 27 balls under pressure. In the last over, Lucknow needed 14 runs to win and Mukul showed amazing courage in front of Vaibhav Arora’s bowling. On the very second ball of the over, he breathed life into the match by hitting a brilliant six, and then on the fifth ball, when the team needed 7 runs, he completed his half-century by hitting another skyscraper six and leveled the score.
One run was needed to win on the last ball, then Vaibhav Arora bowled a perfect ball which was pulled by Mukul. Fielder Angkrish Raghuvanshi had a golden opportunity to run out, but he missed the direct hit and Mukul ran in as a bye to give Lucknow a thrilling win. After the victory, while Mukul was seen thanking God with folded hands, the entire Lucknow team ran on the field. Avesh Khan and Digvijay Rathi embrace their new ‘superstar’ Mukul Choudhary. For the second consecutive night, the IPL presented a breath-taking thriller, in which Mukul Chaudhary’s innings silenced the KKR fans. Earlier, Lucknow Super Giants bowled disciplinedly in the middle overs and restricted Kolkata Knight Riders to 181 runs for 4 wickets. KKR, looking for its first win in the current season, was in a strong position after scoring 98 runs for one wicket in the first 10 overs. Captain Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who were in excellent form, made a partnership of 84 runs in 52 balls. Even after the cheap dismissal of Finn Allen (nine), the team was looking to cross 200, but LSG bowlers changed the course of the innings between the 11th and 14th overs with a mixture of spin and consistent fast bowling.
Rahane (41 runs in 24 balls with the help of four fours and two sixes) was dismissed by spinner Digvesh Rathi. Mohammed Shami took a brilliant catch. In the very next over, Raghuvanshi (45 runs from 33 balls with the help of five fours and two sixes) was caught at long-on by left-arm spinner Manimaran Siddharth. After this, Avesh Khan made a brilliant comeback in the second spell and dismissed Rinku Singh (four), due to which KKR batsmen could not hit boundaries for 30 balls and the score could reach only 115 runs for four wickets in 15 overs.
Rovman Powell (39 not out with the help of four fours and two sixes on 24 balls) and Cameron Green (32 not out with the help of three fours and one six on 24 balls) played useful innings and took the team to a competitive score. Shami was the most effective among LSG’s bowlers, bowling nine dot balls in four overs and conceding 27 runs. Rathi (25/1) and Siddharth (34/1) also bowled tightly. Before this, Rahane started aggressively, while Raghuvanshi supported him well with excellent rhythm and composure. Despite a slow start, the team was successful in scoring 56 runs for one wicket in the powerplay. Shami troubled KKR’s batsmen with the new ball, causing LSG to bowl 18 dot balls in the first five overs.
