iPhone Users at Risk: Recently, a new cyber threat has increased the concern of iPhone and iPad users around the world. A dangerous hacking tool named DarkSword has been leaked on the internet, putting not millions but crores of devices at risk.
iPhone: What is DarkSword and why is it so dangerous?
According to reports, this tool has been uploaded on the online platform GitHub from which anyone can now download it. The biggest concern is that this tool can easily target devices with older iOS versions, especially those devices that have not yet been updated to iOS 26. Cyber security experts say that this tool is very easy to use and it does not require any special technical knowledge.
Hacking can happen even without being an expert!
According to security experts, DarkSword is based on simple HTML and JavaScript files. This means that anyone can use it without much effort. In a demo it was also shown that even iPad mini running on old iOS can be easily hacked with the help of this tool. Once the device is infected, hackers can access personal information like your contacts, messages, call history, Wi-Fi passwords.
Apple warned
In view of this danger, Apple has alerted the users and advised them to update the software as soon as possible. The company says that keeping the device updated is the biggest security measure.
Apple has also released an emergency security update on March 11 especially for those devices that cannot update to the new iOS version. Apart from this, features like Lockdown Mode can also help in protecting from such attacks.
How many devices are at risk?
According to Apple, more than 2.5 billion of its devices are active worldwide. Of these, about 25% are still running on the old iOS version. That means there are millions of devices that can fall prey to this new threat.
How to avoid this cyber attack?
If you use iPhone or iPad, then immediately go to Settings and check the latest update and install it. For users who are already updated, the risk is very less, but for those using older versions, this risk can be serious.
