New Delhi. A good news has come for Lucknow Super Giants in the middle of IPL 2026. Australian batsman Josh Inglis is likely to join the team before the IPL match against Mumbai Indians on May 4. Inglis had decided not to play the first part of the season because of his marriage. After the wedding on April 18, English is expected to take some time off and come to India.

According to the news of ESPNcricinfo, English, bought for Rs 8.66 crore, can be available for the last six matches of the Super Giants. It will start with the match against Mumbai Indians on May 4. The team captained by Rishabh Pant has lost its last three matches and is at eighth place in the points table. Inglis scored 278 runs for Punjab Kings last season at a strike rate of 162.57, but he was released from the team before the 2026 auction. Lucknow’s next match will be against Rajasthan Royals at its home ground on 22 April.

So far in IPL 2026, Mitchell Marsh, Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram have been the only foreign players who have been continuously part of the team. Interestingly, the Lucknow team does not always fulfill the quota of their fourth foreign player, i.e. sometimes they play with only three foreign players. Nicholas Pooran, who performed brilliantly with the bat in 2025, is struggling with very poor form this season. So far he has scored only 51 runs in 6 innings. His strike rate has also been only 80. In his place, South Africa’s George Linde was given a chance in two of the last three matches.

Expectations will be from English
Lucknow Super Giants placed a big bet on Josh English despite knowing that he would not be available in the initial season. Last year he played for Punjab Kings. He scored 278 runs in 11 matches at an excellent strike rate of 162.57. A half-century was also recorded in his name. In such a situation, Lucknow will expect similar performance from him, so that the team can return to the winning track.

Two important matches before Mumbai
The journey so far has been a bit full of ups and downs for Lucknow Super Giants, captained by Rishabh Pant. The team is currently at 8th place in the points table. He has played a total of 6 matches so far, out of which he has won 2 and lost 4. He currently has 4 points. Before the match against Mumbai Indians on May 4, Lucknow has two more important matches to play. On 22nd April against Rajasthan Royals and on 26th April against Kolkata Knight Riders. Both these matches will be played at Ekana Stadium, the home ground of Lucknow.
