The controversy over run out during a local match in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh took a bloody turn. The matter escalated so much that a young man was stabbed to death while umpiring the match. The accused is absconding in the case and the police is searching for him. The name of the deceased is Dola Ajit Babu.

Umpire murdered in cricket match

New Delhi: A 21-year-old umpire was killed in a minor dispute during a local cricket match in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. According to the police, the youth was stabbed after a fight over the decision to run-out. According to an NDTV report, the victim, Dola Ajit Babu, was umpiring a match with his friend Budumuri Chiranjeevi on Sunday evening when an argument broke out between players from two areas regarding run-out.

The umpires immediately intervened and calmed down the situation on the field, but the tension did not end completely. A spectator, Kanta Kishore (26), started abusing the players and umpires, even though he was not involved in the match. The matter escalated further after the match was over. Police said that Kishore later called the umpires near him on the pretext of resolving the dispute.

After the match there was again a dispute between the two sides

Ajit Babu, Chiranjeevi and some people reached there, but the matter worsened. The police officer said, ‘There was another argument after the match and the teenager suddenly took out a knife and attacked.’ Ajit Babu was stabbed in the chest and fell on the spot. Chiranjeevi was injured while trying to escape and another person was also injured. All the injured were first taken to the nearest hospital, then Ajit Babu was sent to Apollo Hospital, where he died during treatment.

In this entire matter, the victim’s brother told that the dispute regarding a run had already been resolved by the village elders, but the accused later returned under the influence of alcohol and attacked him. On the complaint of the victim’s father Dola Appala Raju, the police have registered a case of murder against the teenager under relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code. Police have started an operation to search for the accused. At present he is absconding.
