Joffra Archer has written a new history in the Indian Premier League. He created a new record by bowling a maiden over in the match against Lucknow Super Giants. Many bowlers have bowled maiden overs in the IPL before, but Archer has done something special. Archer is the first bowler in the history of IPL to bowl a maiden over to Nicholas Pooran.
Nicholas Pooran has been playing continuously in IPL since 2019, has faced more than 1400 balls and has more than 2300 runs in his name. But in the history till now, there was no bowler who had bowled a maiden over in front of Puran. But Archer of Rajasthan Royals has done this.
Joffra Archer made this record in the 32nd match of IPL 2026. Archer came to bowl in the fifth over of the innings. Nicholas Pooran is struggling with poor form and was seen struggling completely in front of Archer’s fast balls. This was the fourth maiden over of Archer’s IPL career. In terms of bowling the most number of maiden overs in the IPL, he has equaled famous bowlers like Rashid Khan and Mohammad Siraj.
21 crore Nicholas Pooran’s bad form continues
So far, IPL 2026 has been very bad for Nicholas Puran, who received a salary of Rs 21 crore from Lucknow Super Giants franchise in IPL. In the match against Rajasthan Royals, he scored 22 runs in 25 balls. So far he has been able to score only 73 runs in 7 innings. Puran’s form can be gauged from the fact that the 22 runs he scored against Rajasthan was his highest individual score this season.
