In the year 2009, Matthew Hayden won the Orange Cap while playing for Chennai Super Kings. Hayden batted brilliantly this season and scored 572 runs in 12 matches at a strike rate of 144.

Sachin Tendulkar's performance with the bat in the year 2010 in Mumbai Indians jersey was excellent. Sachin had scored 618 runs in 15 matches at an average of 47 and strike rate of 132 and won the Orange Cap.

In the year 2011, Chris Gayle performed brilliantly while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Gayle had scored 608 runs in 12 matches playing at a strike rate of 183. Due to Gayle's strong performance, RCB was successful in reaching the final this season. The team had to face defeat at the hands of Chennai Super Kings in the title match.

Chris Gayle won the Orange Cap for the second consecutive year. Playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore, Gayle scored 733 runs in 15 matches in 2012 at a strike rate of 160. Gayle became the first batsman to win the Orange Cap for two consecutive seasons.

Michael Hussey won the Orange Cap while playing for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2013. Hussey had scored 733 runs in 17 matches playing at a strike rate of 129. Due to Hussey's brilliant performance, Chennai Super Kings made it to the finals, but the team had to face defeat against Mumbai Indians in the title match.

Playing for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Robin Uthappa batted brilliantly and scored 660 runs in IPL 2014. Uthappa was successful in winning the Orange Cap due to his strong performance.

Sai Sudarshan's performance in IPL 2025 was strong. While playing for Gujarat Titans, Sudarshan scored 759 runs in 15 matches at a strike rate of 156. Sudarshan had scored one century and 6 half-centuries.
