Daniel Vettori, SRH coach

New Delhi: Sunrisers Hyderabad coach Daniel Vettori is very disappointed with the defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders. In the press conference after the match, Vettori said that his strategy against KKR failed due to losing wickets at important moments. Chasing a modest target of 165 runs, KKR won easily by scoring 169 runs at the loss of three wickets in 18.2 overs.

Vettori said after the match, “We had a very good start, but we could not take advantage of it and lost some wickets at important moments. It is very difficult to defend 160 runs, even if the wicket is a little slow. But after the powerplay, we gave such a good fight that there was some hope of victory. But they chased the target very well. ”

Vettori said that due to continuous fall of wickets it became difficult for his team to find rhythm. He said, “We just lost wickets at important times and in T20 matches, even if you have rhythm, if the opposition becomes aggressive, it is very difficult to regain the rhythm.” For KKR, spinners Varun Chakraborty (3 wickets for 36 runs) and Sunil Narine (2 wickets for 31 runs) performed brilliantly with the ball.

Vettori said, “The wickets of Travis Head, Ishan Kishan, Heinrich Klaasen fell but if any of them had remained at the crease, the result would have been different.” But KKR bowled very well. Especially the spinners kept their length very well. He said, “Even though we put pressure on Chakraborty in the beginning, he managed to take wickets.” After this win, KKR has kept alive its hopes of reaching the playoffs, while Sunrisers are back on track after winning five consecutive matches.
