In IPL 2026, Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 82 runs in the match held at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium on Tuesday. Due to this big defeat, SRH has slipped from first place to third place in the points table. SRH’s run rate has also declined. After SRH’s defeat, head coach Daniel Vettori said that every team has to go through such situations sometimes in the tournament.
In the post-match press conference, Vettori said, “We knew we had to start well, but we could not do that. I mean, if they had scored 200 runs, we knew it would be very difficult. Because the target was 169 runs, we had a chance. But we could not start well. However, I do not want to put any blame on the batsmen. They have been very good this year. Every team has some small problems sometimes in the season. We have to face problems in this match too.”
Vettori said that he took advantage of the fact that we did not get a good start and bowled excellently. We were already aware of the challenge of playing their fast bowlers and Rashid Khan.
If we look at the match, Gujarat Titans, batting first, scored 168 runs for 5 wickets with the help of Sai Sudarshan’s 61 runs and Washington Sundar’s 50 runs. Set to achieve the target of 169 runs, SRH’s batting was reduced to 86 runs in 14.5 overs and lost the match by 82 runs.
For GT, Kagiso Rabada took 3 wickets for 28 runs in 4 overs and Jason Holder took 3 wickets for 20 runs in 4 overs. Prasidh Krishna took 2 wickets for 23 runs in 3 overs. Siraj and Rashid got 1-1 wicket.
