New Delhi. The Indian women’s cricket team has gained a strong hold on the second day of the ongoing historic Test match against England at Lord’s. India has scored 154 runs after losing 1 wicket in its second innings, with which it now has a huge lead of 269 runs. In the only Test match, the Indian team, which came to bat after losing the toss, scored 285 runs in the first innings. The visiting team had lost two wickets till the score of 37, after which Smriti Mandhana took charge. She made a partnership of 64 runs with Jemimah Rodriguez, while she made a partnership of 89 runs with captain Harmanpreet Kaur for the fourth wicket.
Mandhana was out after scoring 83 runs with 12 boundaries, while Jemimah played an inning of 35 runs. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur contributed 58 runs and Deepti Sharma contributed 57 runs to the team’s account. Sophie Ecclestone took maximum 3 wickets from the host camp, while Lauren Filler, EC Wong and Mady Villiers took 2 wickets each.
England reduced to 170 runs due to revolution
In response, England was reduced to just 170 runs in the first innings. This team had lost its 4 wickets till the score of 47. From here captain Nate Sciver Brunt along with Amy Jones scored 84 runs for the fifth wicket, but after the break of this partnership the team disintegrated. Brunt was out after scoring 44 runs. Jones played an inning of 52 runs with 6 fours. In this innings, for India, Kranti Gaur took 5 wickets for 37 runs, while Sayli Satghare and Sneh Rana took 2 wickets each.
Got a lead of 115 runs in the first innings
India had a significant lead of 115 runs on the basis of first innings. By the end of Saturday’s game, the visiting team had increased this lead to 269 runs. In this innings, the opening pair of Shefali Verma and Smriti Mandhana added 88 runs. Shefali was out after scoring 33 runs with 7 fours, after which Mandhana took the lead with Yastika Bhatia. Both the players have collected 66 runs for the second wicket. Mandhana is unbeaten on 69 runs with 10 boundaries, while Yastika has added 39 runs to her account with 4 fours. The only success in this innings has come to Ecclestone.
