New Delhi. The three-match ODI series between India and England is going to start in Edgbaston. After the crushing defeat in the T20 series, now Team India will take the field with the hope of making a comeback in ODI. Before the match, former Indian wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik has selected his favorite Indian playing-11 for the first ODI. Karthik has also taken some surprising decisions in the team. He kept Ishan Kishan, who has scored the fastest double century in ODI (200 runs in 126 balls), out of his team, while giving a chance to young fast bowler Prince Yadav.
No changes made in top order
Dinesh Karthik did not tamper much with the batting order. He has given the responsibility of opening to captain Shubhman Gill and Rohit Sharma. Virat Kohli has been selected at number three, Shreyas Iyer at number four and KL Rahul at number five. This is the same top-5, which is currently considered to be India’s strongest batting order.
Trust on Dubey in the absence of Hardik and Nitish
Hardik Pandya and Nitish Kumar Reddy are not available. In such a situation, Karthik chose Shivam Dubey as a pace-bowling all-rounder at number six. Akshar Patel has been given a place at number seven, who along with batting will also give balance to the team with left arm spin.
Combination of three pacers and two spinners
In bowling, Karthik has advised to go with three specialist fast bowlers. He included Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh and young Prince Yadav in his playing-11. The responsibility of spin department has been entrusted to the shoulders of Kuldeep Yadav and Akshar Patel.
Ishaan and Krishna were not given place
The biggest decision in Karthik’s team was to keep Ishan Kishan out. Ishaan is among the few Indian batsmen to score a double century in ODI cricket, but despite this he did not find a place in Karthik’s favorite 11. Apart from this, Prasidh Krishna, Gurnoor Brar and Washington Sundar, who played regularly in the recent ODI matches, are also not a part of their team.

Shubman Gill (captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Shivam Dubey, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Prince Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah.
