If you have studied bioinformatics, computer science, agriculture or natural sciences and want to make a career in the field of research, then there is good news for you. Hansraj College affiliated to Delhi University has invited applications for the post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and Project Associate-I for an important research project. This project research is being conducted with the financial support of the National Research Foundation (ANRF) and its objective is to develop modern technology to deal with viruses that cause damage to agriculture.
A total of one post will be filled under this recruitment. Interested candidates can apply till 5 August 2026. According to the information released by the college, the total duration of the project has been fixed at three years, while the appointment of the selected candidate will be initially for two years. Further process will be decided based on the performance and rules of the project.
Research on crop safety will be done with the help of AI
This research project is based on a serious challenge in the agricultural sector. Work will be done to develop new technology against Tomato Leaf Curl Palampur Virus and Cucumber Mosaic Virus, which affect crops like tomato and cucumber. For this, researchers will use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to prepare such antiviral peptides, which can prove effective in stopping these viruses. If this research is successful, then in future farmers can get great help in reducing the losses caused by viral diseases.
What should be the qualification for JRF post?
Candidates applying for the post of Junior Research Fellow must have a postgraduate degree in Bioinformatics or Computer Science. Additionally, it is mandatory to have a valid CSIR-UGC NET or GATE score along with an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in a professional course. The selected candidate will also get a fellowship of Rs 37,000 per month along with House Rent Allowance (HRA) as per rules.

These candidates can apply for Project Associate-I
Candidates applying for the post of Project Associate-I must have a four-year bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences, Agriculture, Computer Science, Mathematical Sciences or Physical Sciences. Apart from this, candidates having postgraduate degree in Natural Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, BVSc, Pharmacy, Engineering or Medical subjects are also eligible to apply. The maximum age limit for this post has been fixed at 28 years.
These candidates will get priority
The college has clarified that candidates who have experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Python or R programming on Linux platform will be given preference in the selection process. For candidates having such skills, this opportunity can prove to give a new direction to their career.
Salary will be given as per qualification
Selected candidates will be given Rs 37,000 + HRA or Rs 30,000 + HRA per month as per their eligibility and post. This project is considered to be a better opportunity for those youth who want to work on the combination of agriculture, biotechnology and AI.
