IBS Problem: Nowadays, due to bad lifestyle and eating habits, stomach related problems are increasing rapidly. Among these, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is becoming a common problem, due to which many people remain troubled. Experts say that including the right kind of fiber in the diet can provide relief from this type of problem to a great extent. According to experts, soluble fiber can help in reducing the symptoms of IBS.
Why is soluble fiber beneficial?
According to doctors, IBS is not a disease but a group of many symptoms. This may include problems like flatulence, constipation or diarrhea. In such a situation, soluble fiber plays an important role. This fiber absorbs water and takes a gel-like form, which slows down the digestion process and helps in balancing bowel movements. This is the reason why it can provide relief in both constipation and diarrhea. Apart from this, soluble fiber works as a prebiotic. That means it promotes the good bacteria present in the intestines. This reduces bloating over time and the digestive system works better.
In which things is soluble fiber found?
The amount of soluble fiber can be increased by including some common things in the diet. These include things like oats, chia seeds, flax seeds, isabgol, apple and beans.

Not every fiber is beneficial
At the same time, experts say that not every type of fiber is beneficial during IBS. There are mainly two types of fibre. Soluble and insoluble. While soluble fiber dissolves in water, insoluble fiber does not dissolve. Insoluble fiber increases the movement of substances in the digestive system and increases the size of stool. But in some people it can increase the symptoms of IBS. Especially when it is suddenly started taking it in large quantities. In such a situation, doctors say that it is important to adopt the right method while taking fiber. Instead of taking it in large quantities suddenly, it should be increased gradually so that the body gets time to adapt to it.
