Sanju Samson is also like Dhoni…CSK bowling coach told the inside story
New Delhi. Sanju Samson finally made a strong comeback for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League 2026 after flopping in three matches. He laid the foundation of the team’s victory by playing a explosive century. The team’s bowling coach Eric Simon described both MS Dhoni and Sanju Samson as similar. His calm nature and deep understanding of the game has been praised. He described Dhoni as one of the calmest players with whom he has ever worked.
Simon said that Samson also has the same thinking, he never gets nervous and remains confident. Don’t put too much effort in preparation. In the press conference after the match, Simon said, “I have had the opportunity to play with Dhoni and be associated with him for many years. He is one of the calmest cricketers I have met. Sanju Samson is also not far behind him, he also understands the game from the same perspective. I have never seen any nervousness in him, nor have I seen any attempt to practice too much or do too much, but sometimes even less.”
Sanju made a record by scoring a century
There was never any doubt on Samson’s class
After three consecutive failures for his new Indian Premier League (IPL) team, Samson made a strong comeback by scoring a brilliant century against Delhi Capitals (DC) in Chennai on Saturday. Simon said that players of Samson’s class definitely recover from bad form. He said that there was never any doubt on Samson’s ability. He told that big players should trust their skills, maintain confidence and be patient, because success will definitely be achieved.
Simon said, “When you have class like Samson, you know that bad form is just temporary. Sometimes it’s a matter of luck, in a match (Nandre) Berger bowls him a brilliant ball, sometimes a ball goes for a four, sometimes it gets edged and gets caught. So there was never any doubt that this innings will come. I think the mindset of a cricketer like him is very important, you just have to believe in him, believe in your quality. And he certainly has these qualities in abundance.”
