How Jammer Works: During the students’ protest at Jantar Mantar on Monday, mobile signals were not available at many places. According to reports, Delhi Police had installed portable mobile jammers at some places. This is not the first time that a jammer has been used at a protest site. Jammers have been used many times in the past also at protest sites, examination centers and other sensitive places. Today we are going to tell you why jammers are installed and how they work.
Why did Delhi Police install jammers?
According to media reports, Delhi Police had installed mobile jammers at Jantar Mantar. The police wanted to temporarily block mobile communication around this area. Officials believe that this prevents real-time coordination among people and also reduces the chances of live streaming sensitive action. It is being told that the police had installed them at the specified location for a limited time only.
How do jammers work?
The way mobile jammer works is simple. It jams the mobile network in the areas around the area where it is installed. After being turned on, the jammer emits radio waves at the same frequency on which 3G, 4G and 5G networks operate. The waves emitted from the jammer are strong and they block the signal coming from the mobile tower to the phone. Due to this the phone is not able to connect to the mobile network. This is the reason why neither the internet works nor calling and messages are possible on the devices that come in the range of the jammer. Keep in mind that the jammer is installed temporarily and it only affects the devices within its range. The mobile network is restored as soon as the jammer is switched off.
What should you do if a jammer is on?
If the jammer is on and you are within its range then your phone will not connect to the mobile network. There is no shortage of your phone in this. Unless the jammer is turned on, it will not allow the signal from the mobile tower to reach your phone. To avoid this, you can go away from your place. As soon as you are out of the range of the jammer, your phone will automatically connect to the network.
