Cell Broadcast Alert: If your phone suddenly starts ringing in the next 1-2 days, do not panic. Actually, the Department of Telecommunications and the National Disaster Management Authority are jointly trialling the Cell Broadcast Alert System across the country. During this period, mobile users may receive alert messages. If such a message comes on your phone too, then there is no need to panic. This is a trial. Let us tell you that Union Ministers Amit Shah and Jyotiraditya Scindia will launch a mobile-based disaster alert system across the country on May 2. Government made this appeal regarding Cell Broadcast Alert
During the launch of this system, a message will be sent to mobile phones in all the state capitals and Delhi-NCR. Apart from Hindi and English, this message will also be in regional language. Through this people will be told that this is a trial. The government has appealed that there is no need to panic about the message and users do not have to do anything. This is being trialed only to check this system.
Alert messages have been sent earlier also
This is not the first time that an alert will be sent to the mobile through this system. According to reports, 134 billion alert messages have been sent through this system. This system will be used to alert people in situations like natural disasters, weather warnings and cyclones. Now, along with SMS, cell broadcast technology has also been added to this new system. With this, alerts can be sent to people’s phones even if the mobile network is weak.
Which people will receive the alert?
During the trial, the message will be sent only to those users who have turned on the settings for this in their phones. Also keep in mind that this message may come to you again and again. If this setting is not on in your phone then you will not receive the alert message. After receiving the message you just have to press the OK button.
Turn on this setting to get emergency alerts
If you want to receive emergency alerts on your phone, you will have to turn on a setting. For this, go to the phone’s settings and tap on Safety and Emergency. Here you will see the option of Wireless Emergency Alert. In this, turn on the test alert.
