New Delhi: Indian women's cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur said that winning the ODI World Cup last year gave the team the much-needed confidence to win more titles anywhere in the world. The Indian women's team won its first ICC title by defeating South Africa in Navi Mumbai in November last year. Harmanpreet hopes that the team will be successful in repeating this feat in the Women's T20 World Cup to be held in Britain from June 12 to July 5.
During the naming ceremony of the stand built in his honor at the Omex Stadium in Dwarka, Harmanpreet said, “I believe that in any field you have to do something special. You have to win a title, only then you get recognition. If this does not happen, it seems as if all the hard work has gone in vain.
Harmanpreet now aims to win T20 World Cup
She said, “Not only our team but all the women cricketers before us worked hard. He often had to spend money from his own pocket also. Therefore winning the title was very important. The response we are getting from Indian fans, media and everyone else after winning the title means a lot to us.
About hoping to repeat the ODI World Cup performance in this year's T20 World Cup, Harmanpreet said, “We will try our best to win the T20 World Cup. The ODI World Cup has given us the necessary confidence and now we are confident that we can win the World Cup anywhere in the world.
Indian team had a strong performance on Australia tour
India recently toured Australia, where it played a multi-format series, which included three T20 Internationals, as many ODIs and a pink-ball Test match. India lost the series 4-12 on points but Harmanpreet said that her team learned a lot from this.
He said, “There should be a multi-format series like this because it gives you new challenges to face.” After a week you have to play in another format so I think it is a completely different experience.
