Gujarat Titans gave update on captain Shubman Gill's injury

New Delhi. Gujarat Titans team played in the second match of Indian Premier League 2026 without regular captain Shubman Gill. He missed the match against Rajasthan Royals in Ahmedabad on Saturday due to a muscle strain. Experienced spinner Rashid Khan took command of the team. This match was very exciting and Rajasthan won on the last ball. The franchise is not too worried about Shubman's injury, as the management is hopeful that he will recover by the next match against Delhi Capitals on April 8.

Gujarat Titans' assistant coach Parthiv Patel gave important information about this during the match against Rajasthan. He told that Gill once again felt pain in the neck. It is noteworthy that the Indian Test and ODI captain had suffered a neck injury last year too, due to which he was ruled out of the second Test and ODI series against South Africa.

What did the team say about Gill's injury?

Speaking to the host broadcaster, Parthiv said, “Clearly he had a neck injury earlier too. He had a muscle strain a few days ago. Hopefully he will be fit for the next match. It doesn't look serious. Injury management is not my forte. But I can definitely say that he will be fine.”

What happened in the match between GT and RR?

Rajasthan won the toss and decided to bat first against Gujarat. The team scored 210 runs at the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. Dhruv Jurel and Yashasvi Jaiswal played brilliant innings of 75 and 55 runs. For Gujarat, Sai Sudarshan raised the hopes of the team by scoring a quick half-century. The left-handed batsman was out after scoring 73 runs, which gave Rajasthan a chance to make a comeback. Ravi Bishnoi took four wickets and it seemed that the match went in favor of Rajasthan. Gujarat made a comeback on the basis of an important partnership of 43 runs for the eighth wicket between Kagiso Rabada and Rashid. Gujarat needed 11 runs in the last over, but Tushar Deshpande bowled brilliantly six balls and gave only five runs, due to which Rajasthan Royals won by 6 runs.
