Chahal admitted that the absence of South African all-rounder Marco Johnson in the final cost him dearly. Johnson had returned home to prepare for the World Test Championship final. Chahal said, 'If Johnson had been in the final, we would have definitely won the championship. Chahal revealed for the first time how badly he was struggling with injuries at the end of last season. He told that after the match against KKR, his ribs were fractured and later his knuckle also got fractured. This was the reason why he was not able to bowl his natural leg-spin in the semi-finals and finals. In the final he took 1 wicket for 37 runs in 4 overs.
