In India today, on March 18, the 28th Roza has been observed, whereas in Saudi Arabia, the 29th Roza has been observed. In the last phase of Ramadan, Muslims all over the world keep their eyes on the moon of Eid.
An appeal has been made in Saudi Arabia to see the new moon of Shawwal (10th month of the Islamic calendar) on the evening of Wednesday 18 March. If the new moon of Shawwal is visible in Saudi today, then Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated there on March 19. Whereas in Gulf countries, Eid can be celebrated the next day i.e. on 20th March. However, the last date is announced only after the moon is sighted.
When will Eid be held in Saudi on 19th or 20th?
The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia has appealed to the Muslims to see the moon of Eid (moon of Shawwal) on the evening of 18 March. Let us tell you that in Saudi, Eid or other Islamic festivals are celebrated a day before the Gulf countries. In Saudi, March 18 will be the 29th day of Ramadan 1447 Hijri. Therefore an attempt will be made to see the moon today. But if for some reason the new moon is not seen then Eid will be celebrated in Saudi on 20 March 2026 after completing 30 Ramadans.
Waiting for the final announcement of Eid
There is a rule in Saudi Arabia that the person who first sees the moon registers his testimony in the nearest court, such an appeal is made by the Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia. The date of Eid is officially announced only after the sighting of the moon is confirmed.
How is the date of Eid decided?
The date of Eid is decided only after the sighting of the new moon. But there is a difference in the time and position of moon sighting in different countries. Therefore Eid is celebrated on different days at different places. Like in Saudi a day before and in Gulf countries the next day.
When Eid will be celebrated also completely depends on the date of the Islamic lunar calendar. Eid is celebrated on the first date of Shawwal month. If the new moon is visible on 29th Ramadan then Eid is celebrated the next day. If the moon is not visible then Muslims celebrate Eid after completing 30 Ramzan.
