BSNL Satellite Phone: The country’s only government company BSNL has launched a new satellite phone. This will be useful in those places where mobile network is not available. As the name suggests, this phone will work by connecting to satellite. BSNL said that this handset has been developed in partnership with global satellite network provider Inmarsat. Features of BSNL Satellite Phone
BSNL says that with this phone, voice calls can be made in clear voice despite satellite connectivity and it has been launched with emergency support. The phone has been given a rugged and durable design to protect it from breaking if dropped and its battery lasts a long time. BSNL has said in its post that this satellite phone is suitable for defence, maritime, disaster management, mining, remote operation and adventure travel etc. That means the company is also not marketing it to sell to the common man. The price of this satellite phone of a government company has been kept at Rs 1,34,166. You can buy it from your nearest BSNL office. However, before buying it you will have to take permission from the Department of Telecommunication. Without this you will not be able to buy a satellite phone.
How does a satellite phone work?
As the name suggests, satellite phones are connected to satellite. It does not require mobile network to send or receive signals. It sends signals directly to the satellite and receives them from there. For this reason, it can be used even in places where there is no mobile network. Why did satellite phones not become popular?
