IIM Nagpur, one of the leading management institutes of the country, is now going to take a big step towards its expansion. The institute has prepared a new strategy for the next 5 years, under which it plans to strengthen its presence in India as well as at the international level. The first major step of this strategy will be to establish a new campus on 70 acres in Pune.
Dr Bhimraya Metri, Director, IIM Nagpur, who was recently re-appointed for a second five-year term, presented the institute’s Strategic Roadmap 2026-31. He said that in the coming years the aim of the institute is to make its mark from India to the world.
70 acre new campus in Pune
Maharashtra government has allotted 70 acres of land to IIM Nagpur in Moshi area of Pune on a token lease of only Re 1. The market price of this land is said to be more than Rs 180 crore. The institute says that this will be one of the largest secondary campuses of any IIM.
The new campus will focus on modern technology based management education. There are plans to start courses related to areas like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Industry 4.0, Digital Technology, IT Management and Manufacturing.
Preparation for new courses like BBA-MBA and BTech-MBA
The institute is also considering starting integrated BBA-MBA and five-year BTech-MBA program in collaboration with leading IITs in future. IIM Nagpur believes that such courses will provide better opportunities to students in a technology and industry hub like Pune.

Reach will increase in foreign countries also
IIM Nagpur does not want to be limited to India only. The institute is currently running a student exchange program with the University of Lille, France. Now a target has been set to partner with 20 leading universities of the world in the next five years. Through this, student exchange, dual degree programs and joint research will be promoted.
Target to join top 100 business schools of the world
IIM Nagpur has set a big target for itself. The institute is preparing to find a place among the top 100 business schools in the world and among the top 10 management institutes in Asia in the next few years. Besides, a target has also been set to be among the top three institutions of India in the field of executive education.
