New Delhi. Mumbai Indians lacked intent and purpose in their 27-run defeat against Rajasthan Royals, said former Indian captain Anil Kumble. He praised the brilliant batting of young player Vaibhav Suryavanshi against Jasprit Bumrah.
Rajasthan Royals easily defeated Hardik Pandya’s Mumbai Indians with the help of Yashasvi Jaiswal’s unbeaten 77 and Suryavanshi’s quick inning of 39 runs in 14 balls. Rajasthan scored 150 runs in 11 overs match due to rain. Mumbai Indians could score only 123 runs, their entire top order flopped. This was the third consecutive win for Rajasthan Royals, while Mumbai Indians suffered their second defeat in three matches.
Kumble became a fan of Suryavanshi
Anil Kumble was surprised to see Suryavanshi batting with confidence against Bumrah, he hit a six on the very first ball. Kumble said, “Suryavanshi plays with ease against one of the best bowlers in the world. Hit a six on the first ball and then set Bumrah up. Usually Bumrah sets up the batsmen, but here Suryavanshi forced Bumrah to bowl a slow ball and then hit a six on the third ball.” Kumble said, “Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s batting was fantastic, the way he hits the ball and maintains a consistent strike rate. He is playing at a strike rate of around 300 in every match and is scoring more than 30 runs consistently, which is amazing.
