Chinese Smartphone Sale in India: Chinese smartphone companies have suffered a major setback in India. According to the report of Counterpoint Research, the sales of Chinese smartphone companies have decreased in the June quarter and have reached the lowest level since 2020. In the June quarter, there has been a decline of 10 percent in the sales of these companies on an annual basis. Due to increasing cost of memory chips and other components, phones are continuously becoming expensive. The effect of this inflation has been seen on the sales of phones.
Sales of these companies decreased
According to the report, companies like Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, Realme, OnePlus, iQoo and Poco have to face decline in sales. These companies have more sales in the affordable price segment and now due to memory crisis, this segment has been affected the most. Seeing the rising prices of phones, customers are now postponing the decision of purchasing the phone. In view of this, many companies have started focusing on 4G portfolio so that new options can be introduced for the customers looking for cheap phones.
Fear of further decline in sales
Counterpoint Research believes that pressure on sales will continue throughout this year and total shipments may decline by 13 percent in 2026. The biggest reason behind this is the increase in the prices of memory chips. In less than a year, memory chips have become four times more expensive. This is the reason that along with making new phones expensive, companies are also increasing the prices of already launched smartphones. Recently, many Chinese companies including Nothing, Vivo and Realme had made their launched phones expensive.
Phones are getting expensive every month
2026 has brought a price hike for the smartphone market. Mobiles are becoming expensive almost every month of this year. In the report last month, it was said that in the first five months of this year, the prices of phones have increased by about 8 percent. Compared with last year, in 2025, the prices of 47 models increased and 44 decreased, but so far this year, about 80 models have become expensive, while the prices of only 18 have decreased. There is no hope of relief from this price hike even in the festive season and the chances of discounts from the companies are also less.
