But with the expansion of AI, cyber fraud is also increasing rapidly. In such a situation, people’s privacy is now under greater threat. Keeping this in view, the government has now issued a warning regarding many AI tools. Let us know why the government took this decision.

Why did CERT-In issue the warning?

According to the information, CERT-In had recently warned that the new generation advanced AI models can make cyber attacks faster and more effective than before. With the help of these advanced AI systems, cyber attackers can break into the system faster than before.

That is why the agency has advised government institutions to fix serious security flaws in their systems within 12 to 24 hours so that cyber attacks can be avoided.

Warning for government offices

According to media reports, today AI tools are being used extensively in government work also. But along with this the risk of privacy and cyber fraud has also increased. That is why the Cyber Security of the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has warned many government departments. Actually, in this warning it has been said that no employee should use such AI tools for work which have not been approved. This is because using unapproved AI tools can increase the risk to privacy.

However, in these instructions there is no mention of a complete ban on generative AI tools. The main objective of the government is that government data should not be in danger due to the use of these tools.

These instructions were given to government departments

Along with controlling the use of AI platform, the agency has also issued many instructions for government departments. Departments have been told that it is mandatory to strengthen Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) in important systems. Apart from this, it is also important to install all the necessary security updates and patches on time. Besides, it is also important to conduct vulnerability assessment and security audit regularly. Not only this, the servers and networks connected to the Internet have to be constantly monitored.
