AI Can Detect Skin Cancer: A revolution is expected in the healthcare sector due to AI. This technology can detect many diseases in advance, so that patients can get timely treatment. Now in a similar case, Swedish researchers used AI to identify those people who are at risk of getting melanoma (the most dangerous type of skin cancer) in the next five years. With the help of AI, they analyzed the pre-existing medical records and found out which people are at greater risk of getting skin cancer in the next few years.
AI can detect danger
Researchers from Sweden’s University of Gothenburg have achieved this success. The research team analyzed clinical data of about 6 million people in Sweden. He gave people’s medical history and other treatment information to his AI model. In about 73 percent of the cases, AI found out which people were at higher risk of getting melanoma. Using diagnosis, medication and sociodemographic data, researchers were able to identify people who had a 33 percent risk of developing melanoma in the next five years.
Melanoma is caused by UV light
The biggest cause of melanoma is ultraviolet light, which comes directly from the sun. It can also spread to other parts of the body. Once it spreads in the body, it becomes very difficult for the patient to survive. Therefore, it is important to detect this disease early. It is the sixth most common cancer and a large number of people lose their lives due to it. In such a situation, people’s lives can be saved by identifying this disease through AI. Once people at higher risk are identified, it becomes easier to follow-up and treat them.
AI can also detect heart diseases earlier
Like skin cancer, AI can also detect heart diseases years in advance. In a study by Mayo Clinic, researchers have found a way to detect heart diseases with the help of AI. The researcher analyzed the regular scans of the patients in a new way with the help of AI and found out how much fat is accumulated around the heart. This fat can later cause inflammation and other diseases. It is impossible to detect this without AI.
