How did the app start?
The Japanese government launched an AI powered matchmaking app named Tokyo Enmusubi in September 2024. Its sole purpose was to stop Japan’s falling birth rate. Actually, a survey was conducted in which it was found that about 70 percent of the people who want to get married are not dating at all. Keeping this in view, the government started this app. To make dating safe and secure, some restrictions were also imposed on it. Like no one can create an account on this app as per their wish. First of all people have to prove that they are legally single and after that they also have to pass an online interview. After this they are registered on the app. 36,000 people had applied to register on this app, but out of these only about 16,000 have been registered.
This is the benefit of the app
According to reports, 760 couples have entered into serious relationships through this app, while 265 have got married. One user told that he had registered on this app before his 40th birthday. She started dating a man in August, by September their relationship became serious and they said yes to marriage in December. Another user said that the compatibility scoring feature available in the app is very useful. He said that if you are not sure about meeting someone then compatibility rating can be useful for you. It inspires you to meet people.
Why was this app launched?
The birth rate in Japan has been continuously decreasing for the last 10 years and this has drawn lines of concern on the forehead of the government. Last year only 6.71 lakh children were born in Japan, which is the lowest in the last 125 years. The fertility rate here has reached 1.14. Here the number of deaths is more than double than births. In view of this increasing danger, the government wants people to have more and more children. For this reason, the government is involving itself in dating services which are usually operated by private companies.

Talking about AI dating apps, they contain matchmaking algorithms. They keep complete records of users’ preferences, interests and behavior.
