Telegram Ban: After the temporary ban on Telegram in India, people are now looking for other ways to use it. This is indicated by the fact that there is a rise in the download and use of VPNs in the country. Proton VPN says that after the ban on Telegram, the demand for VPN has increased a lot in India. On X, the company wrote that hourly registrations in India increased by 150 percent on Tuesday and daily registrations increased by 120 percent on Wednesday. This shows that people are now resorting to VPN to use Telegram.
First of all, know why Telegram was banned?
NEET Re Exam is to be held in the country on 21st June. Before that, to prevent incidents of paper leaks, the government has banned Telegram till June 22. With this, orders have been issued to disable the message editing feature of Telegram till June 30. The government says that this messaging platform is being used to leak question papers. In an affidavit issued in the court, the government made serious allegations against Telegram and said that this platform has become the new dark web and it is being used in cyber crime.
Now people are busy downloading VPN
After the ban on Telegram, it cannot be accessed in India, but the solution can be found through VPN. VPN masks the IP address of the user, with the help of which it becomes easier to access banned services. Proton VPN general manager David Peterson tweeted that VPN registrations have increased rapidly after the ban on Telegram. However, now Pietersen’s X account has been blocked in India. Apart from VPN sign-ups, Google trends also show that people have been searching terms like “telegram vpn” and “vpn for telegram” for the last two days. This shows that people are now finding ways to access this banned platform.
How does VPN work?
VPN i.e. Virtual Private Network makes the internet connection safe. It hides the real IP address of the user. That is, its geolocation for the Internet changes and the IP address of the VPN server starts appearing in place of the user. VPN converts your online information into a coded form, which is also difficult to hack.
