Pakistan Cricket Board has issued a notice to fast bowler Naseem Shah because of his social media posts.

New Delhi. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued a notice to fast bowler Naseem Shah. A show cause notice has been issued alleging violation of his central contract and media rules. This matter has come to light a day after the controversial post made from Naseem Shah's social media account during the inauguration of Pakistan Super League 2026 season.

In the post, questions were raised on the behavior of Pakistan's Punjab Province Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz at the event. The PCB confirmed in its official statement that disciplinary action has been initiated against the fast bowler. The board did not clarify which contractual term had been violated, but did say that the matter would be reviewed after Naseem's response.

What was the controversial post of Naseem Shah?

This controversy started with a post made from Naseem Shah's X account during the inaugural match of PSL. This post had a video of Maryam Nawaz reaching the stadium and wrote, “Why is she being treated like a queen at Lord’s?”

This post was soon deleted and later another message claimed that Naseem's account had been hacked. Now it has been recovered. Despite this clarification the matter did not calm down. This incident became even more discussed because many big leaders were present at the inauguration ceremony, whereas a decision had already been taken to limit the attendance of the general public due to external reasons.

What did PCB say on Naseem Shah?

PCB says that this action of the fast bowler has violated his contract and media policy. It prohibits making public criticism or inappropriate comments against officials, institutions or stakeholders. In recent times, the board has taken a tough stance on player conduct, especially public statements and political comments. Now this matter will proceed on the basis of Naseem's reply, only after which any disciplinary action will be decided.

Naseem is expected to play against Peshawar Zalmi in their next match. However, all eyes are on how the PCB handles this matter, as the board wants to further strengthen its code of conduct.
