The 13th match of IPL 2026 was played between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) on Tuesday at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati. Due to rain, MI had to face defeat by 27 runs in this match of 11-11 overs. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who played an important role in RR’s victory, was adjudged Player of the Match.
Yashasvi Jaiswal said after the match, “The powerplay was only for 3 overs, so I was wondering which bowler could be targeted. When Deepak Chahar came with the first over, I made a plan to target him. After this Vaibhav charged Jasprit Bumrah.”
Jaiswal said, “During the match, he remains completely engrossed in the game and is constantly thinking about which shots to play and which bowler to be aggressive against. He constantly works on new shots and tries to adapt himself to different pitches. At any time, when there is a need to play a particular shot, he tries to play it without hesitation. He also plays by understanding every situation and changes his game as per the need of the team.”
Jaiswal praised his opening partner Vaibhav Suryavanshi, saying, “He is playing brilliantly and working very hard. We both keep talking to each other and keep giving positive messages to each other. I do not give any kind of direction to Vaibhav. He himself is a sensible player and understands the game very well. He is enjoying his game.”
Talking about the match, Mumbai won the toss and decided to bowl. RR had scored 150 runs at the loss of 3 wickets on the basis of explosive batting of openers Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Vaibhav Suryavanshi was out after scoring 39 runs in 14 balls with the help of 5 sixes and 1 four. Yashasvi Jaiswal remained unbeaten after scoring 77 runs in 32 balls with the help of 4 sixes and 10 fours.
While chasing the target of 151, MI never seemed to be heading towards victory. MI could reach 123 for 9 wickets in 11 overs and lost the match by 27 runs. For RR, Jofra Archer and Tushar Deshpande took 1-1 wickets, while Nandre Berger-Sandeep Sharma and Ravi Bishnoi took 2-2 wickets.
