Carolina Marin announces retirement: Former world number one Spain's star female badminton player Carolina Marin has announced her retirement from the sport. Marin is the same player who defeated Sindhu in the finals of Rio 2016 Olympics and 2018 World Championships.

New Delhi. Badminton legend Carolina Marin announced her retirement from professional career after being troubled by a knee injury for a long time. His career includes an Olympic gold medal and three World Championship titles. Marin shared a video message on social media and said, 'My journey ends here.' He told that due to the injury he took the difficult decision to stay away from the competition, giving priority to his health.
Carolina Marin said, 'I wanted us to meet on the track for the last time, but I did not want to put my body at risk.' This 32-year-old player defeated India's two-time Olympic medalist P.V. Played many memorable matches with Sindhu. She defeated Sindhu in the finals of Rio 2016 Olympics and 2018 World Championship. Her career includes world championships in 2014, 2015 and 2018, seven European titles and a 2016 Olympic gold medal.
Marin's last competitive appearance came at the Paris 2024 Olympics, marking her remarkable comeback from two serious ACL injuries. She will not compete at the upcoming European Championships in Huelva, but will be there in honor of her city.
