axar patel unhappy with impact player rule: Just before the start of IPL 2026, Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel has expressed his displeasure over the 'impact player' rule. Akshar has clearly said that he personally does not like this rule at all. He believes that due to this rule the importance of all-rounders in the tournament has reduced. Let us tell you that the new season of IPL is going to start from March 28 and Akshar is taking charge of Delhi this time. Former Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma has also expressed his displeasure regarding this rule.

What did Akshar Patel say about the Impact Player rule?
New Delhi. Delhi Capitals captain Akshar Patel said that he is personally not in favor of the 'Impact Player' rule in the Indian Premier League. This rule reduces the role of all-rounders. Akshar said in a press conference, 'To be honest, I don't like this rule. I am an all-rounder. Earlier, you used to choose an all-rounder for both batting and bowling. Because of this rule, the team management selects a particular batsman or bowler, thinking 'why do we need an all-rounder?' That's why I don't like this rule.
Akshar said, 'You have been looking at me the same way for so many years. Whatever the team needs, I do. That is why I have got the tag of 'Crisis-Man'. I play my role as per the need of the team, be it as a 'finisher' or a 'middle-order batsman'. We keep discussing among ourselves. If a player is scoring four runs in two balls, or scoring twelve runs in two balls, or scoring 80 runs as an 'opener'—all these roles are very important for the team.
