New Delhi. Punjab Kings’ streak of not losing 7 consecutive matches in the Indian Premier League 2026 was finally broken. Behind this was the 6 feet 4 inches tall spinner of Rajasthan Royals. With its aggressive batting, the team was once again moving towards a big score but Yash Raj Punja did not allow this to happen. While bowling brilliant spin, he took the wickets of two dangerous batsmen at the right time and changed the course of the match.
After winning the toss, Rajasthan captain Riyan Parag decided to bowl first. The intention was to stop Punjab’s in-form batting cheaply. Shreyas Iyer’s team once again showed why they are invincible this season and despite Rajasthan’s best efforts, made a strong score of 222/4 in 20 overs. The target could have been even bigger if young spinner Yash had not taken the wickets of Prabhasimran and Cooper Connolly.

Punjab was scoring runs comfortably when Punja was brought in to bowl and he bowled brilliantly, showing maturity beyond his years. His first wicket came on the second ball of the ninth over. He deceived Cooper Connolly with a brilliant googly. The ball was full and outside the off stump, tempting the batsman to go for a big shot. Connolly tried to hit a six, but hit the ball high and sent it towards long off. Donovan Ferreira took the catch.
