AIIMS Delhi New Director: The command of All India Institute of Medical Sciences i.e. AIIMS New Delhi, which is among the most prestigious medical institutions of the country, has now been handed over to senior endocronologist Dr. Nikhil Tandon. He has been made the executive director of the institute, this responsibility has been given to him with immediate effect. When the current director Dr. M Srinivas has been appointed as a full-time member of NITI Aayog.
According to the order issued by the AIIMS administration, Dr. Tandon’s appointment has been made till further orders. During this time, they will also continue to handle the responsibilities of their current posts. Dr. Nikhil Tandon is currently Professor and HOD of Endochronology and Metabolism Department of AIIMS. Along with this, he is also playing the role of Dean. Due to his long association with the institute and seniority, this responsibility has been entrusted to Dr. Nikhil Tandon.
Who is Dr. Nikhil Tandon?
Dr. Nikhil Tandon was born in 1963 in Delhi, he completed MBBS and MD from AIIMS New Delhi. After that he also went to University of Cambridge for higher education, from where he obtained PhD degree. Joined AIIMS as faculty in the year 1993 and has been continuously serving the institute since then. He has long experience in all the three fields of medical education, research and clinical practice.
Dr. Nikhil Tandon is an expert in Endochronology.
Dr. Tandon is considered the leading endocronologist of the country. His work has mainly focused on diabetes, thyroid and other metabolic diseases. He has been associated with research and treatment on cardio metabolic diseases for the last several decades. He has published hundreds of research papers and his work has received wide recognition at the international level. Apart from this, he has also been associated with the technical advisory group related to diabetes of the World Health Organization. Dr. Tandon has also worked with various national and international organizations. He has also been the former President of Endocrine Society of India. Apart from this, he has led many research projects for better management of diabetes and high blood pressure. She has also played an important role in major research related to post-pregnancy diabetes and public health.

Doctor Tandon has received big honors
Dr. Tandon was awarded Padma Shri in the year 2015 for his contribution in the field of medicine and education. Apart from this, he got the prestigious B. He has also received C. Roy Award, which is considered a big honor in the field of medical education.
