LSG vs KKR: 52 in 24, then 7 were left on 1 ball; Mohammed Shami turned the tables; Read the whole adventure

The first Super Over of IPL 2026 was played between Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. However, Lucknow had tied the lost match. At one time Lucknow had to score 52 runs in 24 balls. Defeat seemed certain, then the tables turned, but 7 were left on the last ball and Mohammed Shami was on strike. Lucknow’s defeat seemed certain, but Shami hit a six.

Lucknow needed 52 runs in 24 balls. Karthik Tyagi bowled the 17th over, in which Himmat Singh and Ayush Badoni hit 1 six each. A total of 14 runs came in this over. Now 38 runs were needed in 3 overs. Rahane handed the 18th over to Varun Chakraborty, in which he dismissed Badoni and gave only 2 runs in the first 4 balls, but George Linde scored 10 runs in the over by hitting 2 fours on the last 2 balls.

Now 28 runs were needed to win in 12 balls. Vaibhav Arora bowled the 19th over, on whose second ball he took the wicket of George Linde. Mohammed Shami, who came after this, hit a four on his first legal ball, Himmat Singh hit a four on the last ball of the over. A total of 11 runs came from this over and then 17 runs were needed in the last over to win.

Rahane gave the last over to Karthik Tyagi. To win, 17 runs were needed in 6 balls. Mohammed Shami took one run on the first ball. Karthik bowled the second ball as a no ball, the next ball was a free hit and that too was declared a no ball. Himmat Singh hit a four on the second legal ball, but Himmat (19) was out on the next ball. The match once again started looking in favor of Kolkata.

Now 8 runs were needed in 3 balls. Prince Yadav took a run on the fourth ball, now Mohammed Shami came on strike. 7 runs were needed from 2 balls. Karthik Tyagi made the fifth ball dot, Shami hit it hard but missed it completely. Now 7 runs were needed in 1 ball to win. Karthik Tyagi bowled the last ball, on which Mohammed Shami slogged it past long off and hit a six. With this the match was tied and reached the super over.

Kolkata Knight Riders won in super over

Lucknow Super Giants came to bat first in the Super Over. Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram, who were struggling with poor form in IPL 2026, came to bat, KKR gave the over to Sunil Narine. Narine bowled Puran on the very first ball, after which Rishabh Pant came forward and tried to play the shot but was able to score only one run. Aiden Markram was caught out on the third ball. Let us tell you that only 3 batsmen can bat in the powerplay.

Lucknow Super Giants scored only 1 run in the super over. Rinku Singh and Rovman Powell came to bat in the super over for Kolkata. Rinku hit a four on the first ball of the super over bowled by Prince Yadav and thus Kolkata defeated Lucknow Super Giants. This is KKR’s second win in IPL 2026.
