Sana Fatima made world record
New Delhi: Pakistan’s condition has worsened in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. Pakistan has faced two back-to-back defeats, first against India and then against South Africa. However, amidst this disappointing performance of the team, Pakistani Captain Fatima Sana is doing wonders. This is the reason why he made a unique world record in his name even in the lost match against South Africa.
In fact, Fatima first took the team to a respectable score by playing an excellent half-century in the middle of faltering batting and then in bowling, she stunned South Africa by taking three wickets. In this way, Fatima has become the first captain who, along with scoring a half-century, has also taken 3 wickets in her name in the Women’s T20 World Cup.
Fatima became the fourth player to take fifty and three wickets
Pakistan captain Fatima has become only the fourth player in the world to score a half-century and take three wickets in the Women’s T20 World Cup. Before her, this feat has also been done by Hayley Mathews of West Indies, Sune Luus of South Africa and Shefali Verma of India. Shefali Verma has made this record in her name against Netherlands in T20 World Cup 2026 itself. Apart from this, Haley Mathews became the first player in the world to do this against Sri Lanka in 2018, while Sune Luus did this feat against Thailand in the year 2020.
Pakistan team lost by 2 wickets
Whereas, if we talk about this match, South Africa defeated Pakistan by two wickets. In the match, Pakistan, batting first, could score only 126 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs due to Fatima Sana’s unbeaten inning of 55 runs in 38 balls. Apart from Fatima in batting, Tooba Hass contributed 23 runs for Pakistan, while in bowling for South Africa, Marijanne Kapp took the maximum of 2 runs.
In response to Pakistan’s 126 runs, South Africa’s condition also worsened, but with the help of Anne Dirksen’s 52 runs and Nadine de Klerk’s 37 runs, the team scored 127 runs at the loss of 8 wickets in 16.5 overs and won the match. Apart from Fatima, Saadia Iqbal and Tooba Hasan also took two wickets each in bowling for Pakistan.
