Shefali at sixth place in T20 rankings, Smriti Mandhana lost one position

ICC Women T20 rankings: Shafali Verma has reached sixth place in the ICC Women’s T20 batting rankings. Smriti Mandhana slipped to fourth position while Harmanpreet Kaur is at 11th and Jemimah Rodrigues is at 14th. India’s leading bowlers Deepti Sharma, Renuka Singh Thakur and Arundhati Reddy have slipped in the bowlers’ rankings.

Big jump in T20 ranking of Smriti Mandhana and Shefali Verma

Noe Delhi: India’s opening batsman Shafali Verma has moved up two places to sixth position in the latest ICC Women’s T20 International batting rankings after scoring a half-century in the ongoing five-match T20 International series against South Africa.

Shefali scored 57 runs off 38 balls in the second T20 International played in Durban on Sunday, but India lost to the hosts by eight wickets, leaving them 0-2 in the series.

India also had to face defeat by six wickets in the first T20 International played on the same ground in which Shefali had contributed 34 runs. India’s vice-captain and Shefali’s opening partner Smriti Mandhana has slipped one place to fourth place after disappointing performance in both the matches played so far, she scored 13 and 12 runs in these matches. Hayley Mathews of West Indies is now in third place.

Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur is now close to joining the top 10 by climbing two places. He is currently at 11th position, he had scored unbeaten 47 runs in the first T20. Women’s World Cup star player Jemimah Rodrigues has lost four places. Due to poor form, she has now slipped to 14th position in the list of batsmen.

This series is very important for both the teams in terms of preparations for the upcoming T20 World Cup which is going to start in England and Wales in June. South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt has retained her fifth position in the list of batsmen after scoring a brilliant half-century in the second match against India. Australia’s Georgia Woll is on top.

Other South African players, Anne Derksen (up 18 places to 33rd) and Sune Luus (up eight places to 35th) have also made big jumps in the rankings.

India’s leading bowlers Deepti Sharma, Renuka Singh Thakur and Arundhati Reddy have slipped in the bowlers’ rankings. Deepti is down two places to fifth place while Renuka is down four places to ninth place. Arundhati has also slipped to 12th position with a loss of three places and is out of the list of top 10 bowlers.
