KKR vs PBKS: Kolkata-Punjab match lost to rain, points divided between both teams

New Delhi: In the Indian Premier League 2026, the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings was washed out due to rain. Only 3.4 overs of the first innings could be played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata when rain disrupted the game. In such a situation, both the teams had to be satisfied with one point each. For the second consecutive season, the match between Punjab and KKR has been canceled due to rain at Eden Gardens. Even in the last season, there was no match between the two teams.

In the match, KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane had decided to bat first after winning the toss. KKR had a very bad start in batting. Opener batsman Finn Allen was out after scoring only 6 runs. KKR lost the wicket of Cameron Green in the second over of the innings itself. Green could score only 4 runs. Rahane was playing for KKR with 8 runs and Angkrish Raghuvanshi was playing with 7 runs till the game was stopped due to rain.

Could not compete even for 5-5 overs

Due to the ground being wet due to rain, it was decided to cancel the match before the cut-off time. The cut off time for the match was 11.14 pm, but it was not possible for the ground staff to dry the ground completely by that time. In such a situation, the umpire decided to end the match with the consent of both the captains. This is the reason why even 5-5 overs could not be played between the two teams.

Punjab reached first place in the points table

Punjab got 1 point due to cancellation of match against KKR. In this way, Punjab now has a total of 5 points in three matches. Punjab had collected four points by winning its first two matches. In this way, Punjab Kings has reached the first position in the points table, while KKR team has opened its account in the points table without winning any match.
