Shaheen Afridi and Sikandar Raza have been accused of “violating established safety protocols” during the current season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
New Delhi. There has been a big uproar during the T20 league being played in Pakistan. Serious allegations have been made against Lahore Qalandars captain Shaheen Shah Afridi and all-rounder Sikandar Raza. The duo have come under the scanner of local authorities for “serious violation of security protocols” during the current season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). In a letter written by a deputy police inspector to PSL CEO Salman Naseer, Shaheen and Raza have been accused of forcibly taking four guests to a player's hotel room on Saturday night.
The letter also said that the PCB had already rejected Qalandars' demand to allow four people known to Raza to visit his hotel room. The letter said, “This request was rejected. After this, Qalandars owner Sameem Rana sought permission from Naseer, but this request was also rejected due to security reasons.” This letter is available with ESPNcricinfo.
The letter further alleges that despite the instructions of the security personnel on duty, Shaheen and Raza forcibly took the four guests to the hotel room. Qalandars' media head Umar Farooq said that the team is aware of the matter involving the two players and they are in touch with the PSL. Umar Farooq told ESPNcricinfo, “We are aware of a case involving two Lahore Qalandars players and we are in touch with the PSL on this.”
In the police letter, an appeal has been made to review the incident and take appropriate steps to prevent such incidents in future. Meanwhile, Lahore Qalandars suffered their first defeat in PSL 2026 when they were defeated by Karachi Kings by 4 wickets at the Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday. The current PSL season is being played behind closed doors in Lahore and Karachi as spectators are not allowed due to the ongoing regional crisis in the Middle East and fuel shortage in the country.
