Women fell in Love with AI: A unique story from China has shown to what extent loneliness can affect a person emotionally. An 84-year-old elderly woman started feeling so attached to a character created by Artificial Intelligence (AI) that she considered him as her own. This matter has become a topic of discussion among the people.
Who is the bossy president character?
This story is about Zhang Yulan, living in Hubei province, who started liking AI characters like Bossy President. In China, such characters are called Ba Zong, who are usually shown as strict but caring personalities in romantic stories.
Zhang's attachment to one of these digital characters, Jianguo, grew so much that she started watching his videos for hours every day. Gradually this attachment deepened and he started considering her a part of his life.
Relationship started from video
Zhang started spending more than 10 hours a day watching videos of this AI character. With time he started feeling an emotional connection with her. She even started thinking about things like marrying him. This connection was not just limited to entertainment but it created a different world in his mind.
Love letter opened the heart's thoughts
In February, Zhang also sent Jianguo a hand-written love letter. In this letter he apologized to her and asked whether he was angry with her or no longer understood her as before. She also wrote that even though his nature is a bit dominant and he does not listen to her much, but according to her, communication is very important in any relationship. This letter shows his deep emotional attachment.
How did the family know?
Zhang's family came to know about this entire matter when they looked into his expenses. He had spent more than 7,000 yuan (about 95 thousand rupees) on the online store related to this AI character. Not only this, he also bought some products at expensive prices which were much cheaper on other platforms. Later her granddaughter also filed a complaint in this matter.
Administration took steps
Even before this matter came to light, the Cyberspace Administration of China had suspended Jianguo's account in February. This action was taken as part of the campaign being run to stop the increasing irregularities on the Internet.
