Chennai: Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was struggling for his place in the ODI team, played an innings which would have really made the selectors think. This 24 year old batsman played an unbeaten match winning inning of 110 runs in 86 balls against Afghanistan. You will be surprised to know that this was Yashasvi’s second century in the last three ODI innings. Yashasvi, playing his sixth ODI, had earlier scored unbeaten 116 runs against South Africa in Visakhapatnam in 2025.

With Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and then Virat Kohli at number three, Yashasvi Jaiswal gets less opportunities in the ODI team. Due to Virat being injured, he is making a comeback in the ODI team for the first time after 2025, but was able to score only four runs in the second match against Afghanistan in Lucknow. The return of Ishan Kishan has added another contender to the top order. Ishan Kishan had made this battle more exciting by scoring a century in Lucknow.
