This incident is from 1903. There was a test match between Australia and England in Sydney, which was the debut match of Tip Foster. Foster seized this opportunity with both hands and attacked the bowlers in the very first innings and created a stir by playing a explosive innings at number 5. This England cricketer, who remained at the crease for almost 7 hours, completed the first double century, making him the first batsman to score 200 on Test debut. Even after this, Foster’s bat did not stop. At one time it seemed that he would achieve the historic feat of a triple century, but he was out after scoring 287 runs.

Even though Foster missed the triple century, he definitely made the record of the biggest innings on Test debut. This record of his remains intact till today. 123 years have passed and no one has even come close to breaking it. After Foster, second in this list is Jacques Rudolph, who scored unbeaten 222 runs on his Test debut in 2003. Hardly anyone will be able to break Foster’s record of biggest innings in future also.

Talking about Foster’s career, he played only 8 test matches for England. In this he scored a total of 602 runs with one century and one half-century. Just four years after starting his career against Australia in 1903, Foster played his last international match. Foster was last seen in an England jersey in 1907 against South Africa at The Oval.
