The Indian women’s team for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 is to be announced soon. Team selection is to be done today in Mumbai for this mega tournament to be played in England from June 12. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur, selection committee chairperson Amita Sharma and BCCI media secretary Devjit Saikia will be present in it.

New Delhi. After winning the ICC ODI World Cup, Harmanpreet Kaur now has her eyes set on winning the T20 trophy for the country. The Indian team for the Women’s T20 World Cup is to be announced today at 5 pm at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai. BCCI had told on April 29 that there will be a meeting for team selection. T20 captain Harmanpreet Kaur, selection committee chairperson Amita Sharma and BCCI secretary Devjit Saikia will address the media after the team selection. The tournament is to start from June 12. India will play its first match against Pakistan on June 14.
India will enter this tournament as ODI World Champions but their form in the T20 format has not been that strong. Recently, the five-match T20 series against South Africa, in which India won the final in Navi Mumbai. It was meant to prepare for the World Cup but after the 4-1 defeat, instead of confidence in the team, many questions and doubts arose.
There is no scope left for any kind of experimentation and the time has come to choose the best team to play in England. Players like N Sri Charani, Amanjot Kaur and Kranti Gaur are pushing hard to get a place in the team. No big surprises are expected, but players like Vaishnavi Sharma and Nandani Sharma can come into the team from outside.
The 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup will be held in England from June 12 to July 5. In this, Harmanpreet Kaur’s team will aim to win the T20 World Cup for the first time. The women’s selection committee will also select the team for the three-match T20 series against England, one Test match and three ODI and three T20 matches for the India A team. The Women’s Selection Committee will select India’s team for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 today (Saturday, May 2) at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai.
