New Delhi. The case of sexual harassment of Royal Challengers Bangalore fast bowler Yash Dayal was not yet over when another controversy has shaken the roots of IPL. This is the case of Delhi Capitals wicketkeeper-batsman Abhishek Porel. A woman has accused Abhishek Porel of having physical relations with her after promising to marry her and later refused to marry her.
This Bengal cricketer was last seen playing in the Bengal T20 League, where he captained the Kolkata Royal Tigers. According to reports, Porel has also been accused of criminal intimidation and assault, which he has vehemently denied. Now the big question arises that why such incidents happen during IPL only and gain momentum later.
Abhishek Porel in trouble?
According to sources, a woman along with her mother lodged a complaint at Mongra police station in Hooghly district of West Bengal on Tuesday. The woman said in her complaint that she was in a relationship with Porel for the last three years and since last year the cricketer had started distancing himself from her. The complainant alleged that Porel had physical relations with her by falsely promising marriage, and also assaulted her and made criminal threats. Police have confirmed that a complaint has been registered and investigation into the matter is ongoing. During the IPL, this Delhi Capitals player also performed brilliantly by scoring 23 runs in one over against the Rajasthan bowlers at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Abhishek Porel, who is currently in Bengaluru, has denied all these allegations. He says that this matter has been brought to light because he is performing well at the moment, and he points to a conspiracy in it. He said: I am playing well right now, that is why such things are coming to the fore. I will talk about this in detail after the police investigation. I have not talked to the police yet. Abhishek Porel made his debut in domestic cricket for Bengal in 2022. After this, he was bought by Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2023 auction and since then he has been a part of the team. Till now he has scored 769 runs in 35 IPL matches.
