Mayank Yadav: Indian fast bowler Mayank Yadav has once again proved his speed and edge. In the T20 match against Zimbabwe, he created history by taking a wicket on the very first ball of the innings. With this, Mayank equaled a special record of India’s legendary swing bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar. At the age of just 24, Mayank was successful in doing this feat for the third time.
Mayank Yadav has now reached joint first place in the list of bowlers who have taken the most wickets on the first ball of the innings for India in T20 International cricket. He achieved this feat for the third time and equaled Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Before this, Bhuvneshwar was the only Indian bowler to achieve this feat thrice.
Apart from Mayank-Bhuvneshwar, Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep and Ravichandran Ashwin have also done the feat of taking wickets on the first ball of the T20 International innings. Hardik and Arshdeep have done this twice each, while veteran Ashwin has shown this feat once in his career.
On the first ball of Zimbabwe’s innings, he bowled a short of length ball at a speed of 147 km/hr, which bounced off the pitch and went outside. Batsman Brian Bennett went to defend on the back foot, but the ball took the outer edge of his bat and went rapidly towards first slip. Vaibhav Suryavanshi, standing at first slip, showed excellent alertness and agility and took a brilliant catch at chest height by leaning towards his left. Mayank Yadav celebrated it in a grand style.
