New Delhi. Gujarat Titans (GT) opener Sai Sudarshan scored a brilliant century against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) but his team lost. On the basis of the century partnership of Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal, ACB achieved the target of 206 runs with seven balls remaining. After the defeat, captain Shubman Gill praised Sudarshan but also appeared angry at him for not giving him more strikes in the powerplay.
In the match played at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, GT scored 57 runs after the powerplay overs. On this ground, teams have scored more runs than this in the powerplay. Gill played only seven balls in the powerplay overs. On the other hand, Sudarshan faced 29 balls and scored 46 runs. Gill said in the post-match presentation, “He (Sudarshan) was very angry with the way he got out in the last two matches. I think he performed well in this match. Hopefully in the next match he will give me a little more strike in the powerplay.”
Gill was out after scoring 32 runs in 24 balls. In the 13th over, he returned to the pavilion on a googly by leg spinner Suyyash Sharma. Gill and Sudarshan made a partnership of 128 runs in the opening, in which Sudarshan scored more runs.
Gill further said, “Yes, definitely, from the 16th to the 19th over we could not hit any boundaries and could not score as many runs as we wanted. These three overs were very important for us.”
