Don’t allow Vaibhav to debut in Team India yet… Message for BCCI

Carlos Brathwaite, who made West Indies the T20 World Cup champion, has made a special appeal to BCCI regarding Vaibhav Suryavanshi. He said that right now he should not be given a chance to debut. He should be given a chance to spend time with the seniors of the team as the West Indies Cricket Board once did with Brian Lara.

Don’t allow Vaibhav Suryavanshi to debut in Team India yet…Carlos Brathwaite’s message to BCCI
New Delhi. Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who is scoring tremendous runs in the Indian Premier League 2026, has shown an amazing game in the last one year. He has made it extremely difficult for Ajit Agarkar and the other members of the All India Senior Men’s Committee to ignore him. Especially his claim for the T20 series against Ireland and England this year is strong.
15 year old Vaibhav scored a century in 36 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL match on Saturday. Now Pat Cummins has also become his fan. The Sunrisers Hyderabad captain praised the young player and said that Suryavanshi is his “new favorite player”.
Many cricket experts have already discussed that Suryavanshi should get a place in India’s playing eleven. He can become India’s youngest debutant. Former West Indies all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite wants the Indian team management to exercise some patience and first acquaint Suryavanshi with the top level environment and only then give him a chance to debut.
Brathwaite wants the Indian team to treat Suryavanshi the same way it treated Brian Lara. It is worth noting that in the first few years, Lara was being considered the next big thing. He was included in the first team and was given a chance to spend time with Vivian Richards. When he understood the environment, he was given his debut for West Indies.
“Sorry Vaibhav, but if you look at how West Indies treated Brian Lara. He was a generational talent, everyone knew that. So what did West Indies do? They put him in the team with Viv Richards, but he didn’t play international cricket. It was a different time, there were a lot of tour games. He spent time with senior players, without debuting. And then we know that How was his career after his debut?
He further said, “You can keep them with the Indian team. Learn from Virat Kohli, learn from Rohit Sharma, learn from Suryakumar Yadav. There are young players who are close to him in age, you can learn from them too, without throwing them straight into deep water.”
